That's it, really. I mean, why would you not want upgraded life-coping abilities? In all or most cases, that would have to include some personality modification. To put it another way, personality modification and increased life-coping abilities are two sides of the same coin. People's personalities change when those people mature; the hypothetical I'm proposing is simply an increased, artificial version of that type of natural, slow improvement most of us experience over time. You're still you, no matter what. These hypothetical future doctors wouldn't give you someone else's personality, just an enhanced version of your own. Now, it may be
very enhanced, so that your friends and family are a little weirded-out by the change at first, but they and you would hopefully be mature enough to adjust to the change over time. The end result is that everyone is better off.
Should we
cling to the bad things about us?? Or should we seek to "shuffle off" (as Shakespeare might put it) our weaknesses?
