No. Some of your ancestors go back to the time of Abraham, most don't. Jews tend to intermarry within the population in which they find themselves, so you have a lot of non-semitic ancestors as well.
In any case the Jewish -culture- goes back to biblical times, unbroken so there is a clear cultural and spiritual descent from the Old Times.
Fear not. You are Real Jew.

You see, I only found out a few years ago with a DNA test. All my relatives on my dad's side think that they are mexican.
Don't laugh. I confided in my gram who is an atheist and she laughed. They grew up first generation in the Chicago Projects and somehow became upper middle class. 8 out of 10 of them are entrepreneurs who are rich or upper middle class. My dad is most likely an undiagnosed aspie. He has worked in the same factory for over 30 years. He looks like Woody Allen.
Makes sense. There were quite a few conversos (Sephardic Jews who were forced to convert to Christianity in Spain) who were part of the expeditions and conquests in America, and they probably mated with the native population. I'm guessing the marker is either on the Y chromosome (paternal marker) or mitochondrial DNA (maternal marker).
After the Jewish Rebellion in AD 70 (or so), the Romans were so ticked off by the Jews (so were the Classical Greeks, who had lost the area to the Romans), that they enslaved so many Jews that the Slave Market actually collapsed from oversupply. The rest were deliberately scattered throughout the Roman Empire, where they wound up in small communities for a couple millenia.
Cut to the Reconquista in 1492. After that, the Spanish threw out or forcibly converted every Jew, Muslim, and other non-Catholics they could find. Some left for the Ottoman Empire (who actually treated them better than the Spanish), and some became 'fake' Christians, for centuries.
Because they would never convert or fit into local populations, they got a lot of flack over the centuries. The first Ghettos in Venice actually pulled Jews out of general communities and into more insular genetic groups (although Jews were concentrated enough; even the English expelled all Jews sometime back in the 1200s, as I remember)
Because of intermarriage (rare), rape (sadly less so), the genetic markings may be more 'diluted'.
Actually, it is possible to convert to Judaism (depending on the branch), but it's one of the few religions that actually asks you 'are you sure you want to go through with this?'
Wow, that Intro to Judaism course is actually paying off.
It's more like a bunch of ethnicities. The major ones being Ashkenazim from central/eastern Europe, Sephardim from Spain and North Africa, and Mizrahim from the middle east. They all follow the same religion but with different customs, like the Ashkenazim have matzo ball soup at Passover, while the Mizrahim have lamb and rice.

Hate you for it? What is this, a racist forum?
All branches allow conversion, but some make it difficult and require lots of studying first (orthodox) while others make it much easier (reform).

Majority of Jews, this includes Ashkenazi's, Sephardi's and Mizrahi's are only distantly related to the ancient Jews. I am part Turkish Sephardi Jewish and unsuprisingly, this part of the family look more Anatolian then Levant, as they were meant to historically. Changes will occur over the years . . . . admixture will take place and alterations may occur in phenotypical presence, be it a result of diet, lifestyle, environment or admix. Bottomline is majority of Jews of today do however happen to comprise genetically greatly of the MTDna haplogroup of J . . . J1 and J2, which is said to have been found in great percentages upon the ancient Jews. J is a very old haplogroup, and is found strongly within Anatolian, Levantine and even Caucasian populations of today . . . . . Hence the genetic affiliation many Jews have with Near Easterners and Middle Easterners. Hope this helped. Despite being partially Jewish, i am in no way one of gods chosen . . . And neither is my mother. Its the Torah which decides who is a Jew supposably, and a Jew has to have atleast a Jewish mother.
Interesting to read the first few chapters of the Bible book of Romans where Paul explains who really is a Jew.
If those who are circumcised, (Jews), do not completely fullfill the Mosaic law, they are uncircumcised.
If uncircumcised, (Gentiles), obey the law without even being under the law, they are circumcised.
The circumcision being the more important circumcision of the heart.
Paul then goes on to say that Abraham was blessed with the Promise, (that all nations would be blessed, not just Israel), Abraham was blessed whilst in a state of uncircumcision, his blessing being based on Faith rather than through following an unyet declared Law.
Being declared heirs of the promise by law, makes faith void.
Summing it up, those who are Jews and Abrahams seed and hiers to the promise, are not heriditary Jews, but those who have faith in God and his Messiah, which means today the real Jews are Christians.
Pauline hogwash! That is Jews for Jesus BS you are peddling. I Jew is a person with a Jewish mother.

^ Right on ma man.
How about this . . . . Judaism and Christianity are both a total crock of s**t. Both Christians and Jews are not even evidently related to the ancient Israelites, only maybe a Jew, MIGHT be related a little closer . . . . But not enough to feel like he has Israelite blood in any way shape or form. No one is god's chosen.

Then explain the Cohen Modal Haplotype.
Well the birth right of Jews is that if your mom is Jewish then you are Jewish yourself automatic. Thus I'm Jewish Reform because my mom was raised Jewish Reform herself. Jewish People are not to know because we are all different with each other. I have no issues with people of religious beliefs because everyone has a right to believe in their own beliefs.

Even in Biblical times, the Israelite men were always getting into the pants of Canaanite women. There is no such thing as Israelite blood. Ruth, the great grandmother of King David was a Midianite.

The Mormons' ideas about black people are even more reprehensible. Makes you wonder if racism is inherent in the Mormon Church.
And the funny thing is that there are many many black and hispanic mormons even though their faith has racist sentiment.
I notice that too......
I'm Jewish because my mother is Jewish. For some reason, that didn't stop her from converting to Mormonism. So I spent my child hood in a cult. Then I grew up, became obsessed with Mormon history, discovered the truth about how much the Mormon hierarchy has lied about, and left. I attempted to resign from the cult, but the administrative office kept telling me that they had no record of my resignation letter. It's been only recently that I discovered that after the Jews got pissed at the Mormons for dead-dunking (baptism for the dead. Yes, I'm disgusted to say, I was dead-dunked for dozens of people) Holocaust victims, the two sides came to an agreement. The Jews agreed not to take issue with dead-dunking the Jewish ancestors of those who are members of the Mormon church. This explains why the Mormon cult won't let me go. As long as my name is on their records, they get to dead-dunk my ancestors that were Holocaust victims.
While there are a few black members of the cult, they remain very few. Because the Mormons lie to get converts, their few black converts are not aware of the real story behind the ban that said blacks could not hold the priesthood. I know this from talking to them myself, and I am the proud deconverter of exactly one black person. I hope to add more.
As for Hispanics, the cult reels them in by telling them they are the "Lamanites" of the Book of Mormon. It's all extremely goofy, but people fall for it.
By the way, I am not a Zionist. I only know I'm Jewish because I was told. I guess I fall in the "ethnic" category, because I'm sure as heck not religious.
