Were you sheltered?

I wasn't really too sheltered... my parents told me about things they thought I should know (like drugs and sex, etc.) when they felt I was ready for it. Since I read all the time, I probably knew about it before they told me about things.

I could also read just about any book I liked, but I didn't have any interest in dirty books until I was eleven, and the two very first dirty books I recall reading (at the age of eleven) were Ricardo: The Diary of a Matinee Idol (the sexual conquests of a 1920s film actor) by Richard Alfieri and Ernesto by Umberto Saba (about the sexual explorations of an Italian teenager).

My parents pretty much let me and my brother do what we wanted, as long as we didn't get into trouble. I didn't date, so that wasn't a problem. My brother did, and he had a long succession of girlfriends. Mother's rule for that was if he had girls over, he had to leave his bedroom door open.

Mother and Daddy were probably relieved in the drug department because I've been on medication most of my life and they have always taught me to be responsible with my meds and that they're not something you mess around with. Medication also probably kept me away from drugs and booze.

About the only time anybody had to worry about me was when I was in college because I was very, very wild and rebellious at that point. I sort of blame this on the college I went to as it was a strict Protestant school.

As for the fingernails on the carpet, never bothered me.

Yea i was kinda sheltered growing up..my parents did the best they could to shelter me from world's bad side even though i would eventually have to get out in it when i grew up..they took me out of the public school when i was 9 and enrolled me and my sister in a new Christian school their church was opening up (they didn't want me to be around that kind of environment)..i went there for 8 years till i graduated from high school about 14 yrs ago and quit going over there altogether 'cause most of the kids i went to school there with were indifferent to me..all the teens my age (there were just a handful of them) got their own little clique going and i was not in it nor invited to be..christians huh?..after i graduated i stopped going there altogether, i didn't want to have any part of them or that school, so i haven't talked to anyone i went to school with in over a decade..i still believe in God and all, but i don't want anything to do with the Christian lifestyle, or being one 'cause a lot of the ones i knew treated you no differently than anyone else..but i did know some real good Christians though, so they're not all like that

I have never smoked, drank, used drugs or had sex, hows that for sheltering?

Unintentionally, perhaps. I'm from California, which has a horrible public school system, so my parents put my in a Catholic school through 6th grade. I live in Maryland now, attend public high school, and am not even remotely sheltered anymore.
