If scented body products like deodorant, perfume, and cologne are going to be prohibited, so should B.O..

I'd like to see Autreat discuss Autism Speaks and the negative impact they are having on autistics.

When I 1st heard of Autism Speaks, at 1st I thought they were a great alternative to the whole Cure Autism Now thing, as they made themselves sound like Auties like me get to speak for themselves.

But next thing I knew, Autism Speaks and Cure Autism Now had merged together with the name Cure Autism Now being shed and Autism Speaks pretty much acting as a curbie group and that is when I knew that Autism Speaks does not even speak for me and other Auties at all.

They might as well change their name to We Silence Auties by Speaking For Them or some other name that indicates who they really are or who they think they are.

Thank God there is a group like Autism International Network as they really do speak for Autism :)

Ditto on that, and also include FAAAS and the very real damage they are doing to aspies, particularly male aspies, every single day, with no scientific foundation whatsoever.

Thank you for posting this. I'm getting my non-profit for adults with learning disabilities and AS/ASD up and running and I have a couple of ideas for presentations.

Just a reminder that February 15 is the deadline for submitting
proposals for Autreat 2009.

This is NOT the deadline for registering to attend Autreat.
Registration hasn't even started yet. (Watch the ANI web site or the
Autreat Information group for a registration announcement in early
March.) This is just the deadline for submitting a proposal to give a
presentation at Autreat.

To submit a proposal, either use the online form at
www.ani.ac/aut09cfp.php , or read the Call for Proposals, fill
out the information in the "PROPOSALS SHOULD INCLUDE" section, and
send it by email to proposals @ autreat. com (remove spaces).

If you try to use the online form and get a server timeout error, keep
trying. The server gets busy sometimes.

Ken, how many proposals can be submitted? Can the same person/group only submit one, or can they submit more than one?

I am not sure. Please join Autreat's information mailing list and ask your question over there:

is anyone doing a presentation on the argument on whether a 'cure' of autism would be genocide or not, etc?

I don't know. Such questions should be asked on Autreat's information mailing list. However, since the deadline for submitting proposals for Autreat 2009 isn't over yet, I believe it is still impossible to know which presentations will be selected this year.
