Please tell me this forum has an off-line storage backup solution. that someone is downloading from the site to a home computer or something (DVD) that is not connected to the Internet.

This site has some of the most practical and useful information out there. I would hate to see a hacker or hard disk crash result in loss.

Every week is fine, but less than that - I think is a big loss to the community.

I've been in computer industry and IT for 25 years... and I manage my own co-location sites and such. I can help with details on solutions.

Thank you.

This site did have excessive backups each night. I don't know what the regime is now.

What I would be more concerned about if their have a poor back up solutions such as dumping large archive /cab like files on server space. I doubt they have a "hard" backup solution running constantly.

phpBB2 is ripe for exploits, and this is a particularly hacked up version so you are right to be concerned, though really it is more a concern about privacy and denial of service than anything else. DoS is pretty easy because this site practically adversities it with its too much traffic page it puts up throughout the day.

On a forum where there are plenty of post, most of the information become redundant quickly especially stuff 5 years old. It is actually better to keep thing moving, rather than adding to odd post (although this was the traditional etiquette it is actually could be more counter-productive). A drive failure wouldn’t be the end of the world to be honest.
