Changing eating habits.
So I'm trying to lose some weight.
I'm getting less active and working and travel for work and find it hard to keep a steady diet. I spent years working in a furniture warehouse, 8 hours a day 5 days a week of working out. I couldnt put weight on if I tried lol so there was no need to watch what I was eating, or no immidiate incentive I should say. But its been about a year since taking a new job, involving a desk, and I've started to notice that my pants are getting tight =P.
I've been evaluating things for a month or so now, my activities and eating and what not. And it really seems I dont over eat, I eat less than when I was working a physically demanding job. And I rarely eat fast food, drink maybe 2 or 3 soda's a week.
But what i've realized is the way I eat is bad. I will, a lot of days, eat just once a day, and never more than 2 meals. I almost never eat breakfast, infact the only times I do is on the weekends. Other than that I cant tell you the last time I had breakfast before going to work.
I also usually dont eat lunch. I find lunch breaks break my concentration. So I just work all day long. I keep lots of fruit in fridge at office so will have an apple or two during the day or some grapes or cantelope. But I usually wont eat a meal until 4-5 in the afternoon. And maybe a small meal/quick snack like heat up some left overs or a pb&j sandwhich around 9ish before bed.
So basically, i find it tough to change. I have picky eating habits and its tough to change.
Anyone have any tips?
Eat breakfast. I lost 10 pounds just by making sure I eat breakfast. It really works. If you don't eat breakfast your body goes into starvation mode and will burn less calories. Eating breakfast tells your body that you have food available so it burns more. This is hard, but you should put something in your mouth every 3 hours to prevent this from happening during the day. Maybe a raw veggie or crackers or something...anything. It doesn't have to be much, just enough to tell your body that food is abundant and it doesn't have to conserve energy.
Good Luck!

^yes indeed its extremely difficult. I have tried it for years in fact...
You simply have to find the method that suits only You and you have to be extremely motivated and prepare it can be rough, even if its small steps you take.
Small steps is the key to success because if you start an intense program and gets pushed about it then its easy to loose it faster than fast.
I also had the same problem, with not eating enough meals per day but now I have learned that it is really a benefit to loose weight -by adding another meal to your day.
To eat three meals per day is very good and breakfast can surely recommended and as above poster say, dont allow yourself to walk around hungry for long time.
Its better to eat less and more often than too less and too much when you do.
Keep having your fruits around as you do but make sure you combine them with three a bit greater meals per day and you slowly but more secure will loose weight
Most of all, dont loose patience and your hope in it!
I also wish you Good Luck!

hi
indeed. i think AS makes it worse. i have picky taste and am very set in what I eat.
Exercise isnt a problem. I enjoy walking, its very therapeutic for me. To the point people question me about it. They dont understand why i'd take an extra hour to walk to a grocery store when i could drive in 10 mins. They just dont understand that its one of the few ways I can be alone lol. If I say i'm driving they'll go 'oh ya? let me tag along i need some stuff' but tell them I'm just gonna walk and they no longer need to go =P.
I cant tell you the number of times people who know me have pulled over to me walking thinking my car broke down or something and I need a ride. Then get all shocked when I say I'm just walking back from some place, i always hear 'thats like 5 miles away man!' To which I think to myself 'ya, that means its a good hour of me time that you are now interupting' =P.
So i'm starting to look at the diet part, fix that.
Whadya eat for breakfast? I can tell you right now I'm not gonna be able to manage cooking each morning, so is like a muffin good? I've never been huge on cereal.
