Jason McElwain scored 20 points in a basketball game , and then got HUGE publicity for it, while Alex Plank created Wrongplanet, and not only receives publicity for it, but probably makes a whole lot more money than I do because of it.

Isn't there anything I can do to become special?

First of all, stop asking this question over and over. Secondly, become exceptionally skilled at something and do it in public, and hope that someone cares to notice.

Keep doing what you like doing and don't worry what other people think. Jason McElwain is a billion times more famous than I am. Scarlett Johansson is a gazillion times more famous than I am. Yet I continue to work at what I do best and know that I will be recognized one day for my abilities and accomplishments.

If you want to contribute, contribute by doing what makes you and what you can do. Don't fabricate an artificial character about yourself to try to impress others. Don't let others create an image of you.

Don't be afraid that what you know will not impress one single person. Don't try too hard to impress others.

I say this because that is how I used to think when i was a kid. It is what held me back and to this day I still have that problem. Now I learned it as I come along.

No one here can become "special" in a snap. You can only happen to be special because someone feels like you are. Usually they are not trying to hurt you or anything. So don't go and try to proclaim and demand being special or else it probably won't happen.

The thing that I do to make myself feel special, is to do chores at both my Parents' House and at my Clubhouse, or as I affectionatley call it, my "Quirk Club".

Don't try to impress others and to be special by what you are doing. You're already special now.Your value is not decided by your actions.Get the right aim before you take any action, otherwise the actions will be wrong.Being famous is the dream of many people, but once it has cume true, they see that it's not as great as they imagined but very shallow.

I noticed a long time ago someone in a given field plugs along for 20 or 30 years and gets nowhere and then suddenly has an overnight success.

But fame, success, etc are secondary gains. Ask yourself: what is it you want to be special FOR? So people will approve of you? So you can get dates? So whoever it is you're trying to prove something to will finally approve of you? For money?

If it's for money, what do you want the money for? Most people, when you come right down to it, will finally reach either "Financial security" or "to fulfill some sort of lifelong dream."

Is there anything you're obsessed with? I don't care if it's train timetables or tiddly-winks; every success book I've ever read says to go with that and indulge it to the max and there's where your specialness lies.

Just my $0.02

I feel special by taking out the man's arbitrary rules. Their forced jingoism does not work one on me.
