Anyone left a special needs school to go to a normal school?

Has anyone on this site have been in a special needs school to going to a mainstream school/college?

Reasons why I was asking this because basically what happened was that I was put in a special needs school since when I was about 7 and when i just left my secondary school, i got moved to a normal college.

But the hard thing is that i'm literally having to learn how to live a normal life again and cope with things by myself and its alot harder than when I was in primary school.

Do you like to read? This reminds me of the book Marcelo In The Real World, where pretty much the same thing happens. He attends a special needs school and his father thinks he should attend a regular highschool next year and work this summer. Thus, the book is about him learning how to work "in the real world" and then seeing what decision he makes about school. Maybe this will help you, if not be entertaining at least.

I've been in and out of special needs school up until 8th grade. In high school I was in mainstream school and classes. Can you tell me a bit more specifically what you'd like to find out?--Because in addition to differences in special needs school and mainstream secondary school,college has some significant differences from high school.

I suspect that you maybe getting a double whammy/an especially steep learning curve for learning how to be independent.

Actually I don't like to read books but I tend to read alot blogs and stories about people and Yes this has actually happened to me.

What I basically like to find out if anyone in particular have been going through the same experience like I did...

The world seems alot scarier since I left one, still trying to get used to it... lol
