I really need to stop turning to Chores for comfort. I also need to give myself a break, once in a while. It's been six months, since my Life-Long Obsession came back for a visit. I need time to let my thoughts flow. I can't keep on blocking my thoughts by constantly doing Chores, all the time. I was doing some Weeding, at the front of my Clubhouse, just a few minutes ago. I was blocking my thoughts and keeping a very clear Mind. I was doing fine, until the Sun came out. I've kept on working away and blocking my thoughs. All of the sudden, I've started to keel over. But that was fine, because North America was founded on hard work, and typical people do Chores, instead of thinking about the same things, over again. The thing is that I'm not Normal, in the context that most people would use that word. I'm an Aspie, and I need to think about stuff that has to do with London, once in a while.
Why can't I just let myself think about London?
Why do I feel compelled to turn to Chores, for comfort?
Try thinking of it this way: You're keeping yourself busy and keeping everything looking nice by doing all those chores. But I think it is good for you to go ahead and obsess sometimes because it makes you happy. What's the point of forcing your happy thoughts out of your mind? It's just going to make you miserable. Maybe set aside some obsession time where you and your London thoughts can be alone together. When I don't obsess over an interest by forcing myself not to think of it, all I end up with is anxiety and stress. I'd much prefer obsessing than anxiety. Your interest isn't hurting anyone, and is actually helping you feel better and more adjusted. In the mean time, the yard does need to be weeded and the house does need to be straightened up. I hope you start feeling better soon.
...some people eat chocolate, some drink, some smoke etc ....
I clean....and if you get me really upset I will clean all day.
...I don't wake up guilty mouring the loss of my diet, with a hangover, or coughing. I go to bed exhausted...my cupboards are organized and my floors are clean...
it could be worse I guess.
Just be careful in the sun with the yardwork ...heatstroke is not fun...that much I can tell you.
I don't know if this idea will be helpful, or maybe you have tried something like this before, but, is there a way to sometimes put the two together? For example: If you do a lot of garden work anyway, maybe plan and put together an English style garden? Something that looks right out of London? That way, when you do outdoor chores you could have the joy of being in a spot that reminds you of your favorite place. If you have the resources available, you could try doing some creative English style redecorating to a room as well. A library would probably have books on gardening and decorating with color photos for inspiration. I've seen pictures of the gardens there, and it amazes me what they can do with a small space. I hope this helps.
