I am 14 and I am never happy for long. i try playing video games, but i just play the game non-stop, wasting away and not even getting up to go to the bathroom. i have tried wesites but i can't come up with anything to put on the site. i shut everyone out and pretty much have everyone go get stuff so i don't have to get up. i am getting arguments with people alot. i sit and just eat to pass the time. i get almost no exserise. Nothing i have tried has gotten me happy and i feel as though i have no purspose (no i am not thinking of suicide.) i am contently depressed.

Does anyone know what i should do?????

If you don't have anything to put on a website, just enjoy what other people write.

I also have a very hard time finding anything satisfying to do. I usually just wind up wasting time doing basically nothing. Not sure what to tell ya though, as I cant seem to fix this issue either!

I think most humans like a bit of variety - so doing one thing for a long time probably won't keep you happy for all that long.

Exercise - 30 minutes of decent effort - gets you panting and sweating - releases endorphins. Endorphins are feel good drugs. So you might want to pick an exercise and do it for 30 minutes as hard as you can stand - when you DON'T FEEL LIKE IT.

In fact if I start doing something I want to do but don't "feel like doing", I often start to enjoy it after I get started.

Can't decide what to do first?

write a list.
sort it in to quick things that don't take long
and things that will take a while, like hours, days, weeks.
sort both lists so that the most important things are at the top.

Start with the quick list.
roll a 6 sixed dice - do the thing that corresponds with the number you roll (that's if you don't just do the number one thing).

Then reward yourself somehow. waste some time. whatever. read a scifi novel?

Then look at the hard/long list.
Start with the top thing, and see if you can't break it up into steps. break the steps into steps, until you have something that fits on the quick list.

Things I like doing but rarely feel like when I start: walking, bike riding, helping out as a volunteer - especially stuff that involves animals (join a club), scuba diving, visual art - either making something or visiting a gallery, reading, building websites (I do them for my clubs) etc.

Things I do to avoid doing things that are important
surfing wrong planet
watching telly
eating
cooking
housework eg washing dishes, clothes, vaccuuming!! !

What does everyone else like to do for fun?

Computers, television, games... all these things can be fun, but they share something in common. You dont really achieve anything. It might be said that making a web page is an achievement, but people need to achieve theings that they can hold in their hands, or experience with several senses.

Pop over to www.theringlord.com. Have a look at what people make there, and be sure to check the forum and gallery. Maybe that appeals to you, and maybe it doesnt, but if you can find an activity like that, you can produce something that you can be proud of, maybe make some cash, or at least gifts. Having a hand crafted item like that can be a great conversation starter too.

direct link to the forum gallery. Warning! Picture HEAVY!

You need to just try out things until you find something you like, make a list of a bunch of things you think you might find interesting, or if you don't know just pick a random list of things that look cool.

I think the problem is you haven't discovered what it is that makes you the most happy.

Do you own a bicycle? Long rides can be very rewarding; fresh air, lots of things to see, exercise.
Plus, exercise will counter the effects of depression.

You might have also want to get help for your depression. Your body may be producing incorrect amounts of hormones on its own accord.

I think that you need to try new things. After all, if everything you already do isn´t giving you pleasure, then continuing to do them probably will not make things any better, perhaps you should try something new. You never know what will appeal to you unless you try it! Take a walk, take a swim, read some books about a new subject, anything.....the more things you try, the better the chance you´ll find something that you like. Good luck!

I feel like that too. I feel like I want to do something except for laying around doing nothing. Usually I surf the internet (and now here since I'm new), PS2, T.V., and I watch comedy films. If I'm in the mood for exercise, I walk with my pet dog or ask my mum to take me swimming. I don't mind dossing around, because most of the time, I feel relaxed.

looks like quite a few may have issues with this. The advice for trying to find something new sounds great...but it hasnt worked for me. I have tried to find new things to do, but im stuck in this routine of doing nearly nothing and its got a death grip on me and wont let go.

I think a list of things to do, may be of some help. But then again everyones interest vary so widely this may not really help.
