Hi everyone,

My name is jason, I was first diagnosed as high functioning autism when I was three, and later on didnt find out about Asperger's syndrome until my teens. Most of my life I had been able to squeak by socially, maintaining very few friends, never more than a handful, usually less. Anyway to get to my point, during those years I never really reached out to the aspergers community. I am now twenty years old and I am finding the transition between high school and college to be a difficult one. Most of my life I sort of felt like I was all alone with the difficulties I was struggling with, sort of bordering on outcast because no one could relate to them, which made me feel the need to conceal them from the outside world. I was hoping that through this site I could meet others like me who had similar experiences, and maybe be able to meet a few people who I could relate to.

Hi Jason! It's cool to see another new person from upstate NY here. I just joined with the same goal in mind. I think a lot of us can relate to feeling like an outcast when others can't relate to and empathize with what we're going through. And I understand completely how difficult the transition into college life can be sometimes, but it gets a lot better. :)

So anyway, just thought I'd say hi and welcome. Maybe I'll ttyl. Cheers.

Hi!

My name is Jason also, and I will be 20 in one month!

I understand, some people have abnormal interests that make them seem like outcasts. I guess that's just something we have to deal with.

I hope you enjoy posting here!

Welcome to WP Jason.

I feel the same as you but I went from education into the fulltime workforce and all my inadeqaucies were exposed.
The few friends that I have dont understand me much so I avoid social outings with them when I can. The stress of pretending to be outgoing is a little too much for me.

I hope you enjoy these forums as much as I do :)
