yesterday i discovered a way to get into the java chat applet client, go to www.java.freenode.net/index.php you will see an area to type in nick and channel name.
the only downside this has is that it has a timestamp next to every nick in the chatting area and you cannot do whois on people.
with this i can also go to differant channels(cant do that in cgiirc (web html applet)
hope this helps for those who like irc chat and dont want to install a client on the computer.
