I would like to know the Wrongplanet's admin's stance on favoritism threads please.

I understand personal appreciation threads were disallowed, but why are member favoritism threads permitted? They're essentially the same thing.

I find them incredibly annoying, especially when there made by members who want their egos stroked.

I think the question was what is the administration's stance on the issue

Either if everyone else is going to state their opinion I'm going to say mine and that's that I don't care. I don't get my feelings hurt because nobody likes me, most of the time when I'm being judged it's based off of the only part of me I feel comfortable showing (cold/numb/bitter/angry/cynical/blahblahblah).

It's a sleazy method of gaining status on a forum. Not saying everyone does it, some people stand out regardless but doing it just to grab attention.....ugh.

Then again, when a bunch of people gather in one place....

If people don't like them, why are they even reading them? Why not just ignore them?

I have ignored lot of those threads because I get bored of them so I quit reading them. Hail a Member I got tired of so I abandoned it. Occasionally I will go back and read the last page of it or the last few pages and then I am done.

The personal appreciation threads got out of control. We decided that a thread solely dedicated to one member was way too ostracizing to members. The multiple member appreciation threads do not praise any one in particular. If people are bothered by them then just ignore them. I do moderate these threads to make sure that everyone stays on topic and bashing of other members does not occur.
