Hi

Does this forum have a feature that allows you to add certain people as friends to your profile page so that these people are easy to find and contact?

Nope. But you can send PMs to any member on the forum.

I would personally love it if that feature was there, but then again, most people would probably most likely to feel left out and people would have conflicts if they did accept them.

Plus also it is a huge forum aswell, so I actually do recommend it myself.

I've never seen the point of friends lists on forums anyway. I guess to a certain extent it makes sense on a small forum where everyone knows each other, but even then, there's no real change once someone's on your friends list anyway, it's just pointless.

I like the idea of a friends list.

It is not my intention to ignore some and not others - it's just that I would like to know people near my age (give or take 5 years) who have things in common with me (other than the obvious!) and basically it's because it is SUCH A LARGE SITE that I would like this feature. Finding true friends here really is like looking through a haystack for a needle!! !

Finding true friends! - Sorry that didn't sound right.

I mean finding people that I understand best and they understand me.

Also - staying in the same thread - but have a different question - is it possible to have a feature on our profiles that tells us where we have posted? - I can't keep track and I haven't posted that much yet!! !

There's already that feature.

On the main index page for the Forums, look for the "View your posts" link, on the right, near the top.

Also, if you click on your name (to get the profile view that others see), there's a link on your profile that says "Find all posts by Name". "Name" being the name of the person whose profile you are looking at -- your name if you are looking at your own profile. This view shows individual posts, rather than threads you have posted in.

Make a text file on your computer, and when you find someone on here that you like enough to PM, put their username into the text file for future reference. Another thing that would work would be to create a list in your bookmarks of profiles of people whom you like.

I can recall this feature when I was on Orkut many years ago, though I found it to be not very useful for often there were people whom became irked at the fact, I had not added them as well, I was myself peeved for not being added on others being completely honest here.,Still, The idea has merit.. :salut:

I actually like it better without the friends list feature. Because if that were to be implemented, there would be some people who have many friends and some who only have a few. This feature will bring out some members' popularity even more, making other members who are not so popular feel inferior and unwanted here.

MathGirl, you present a very valid point, for now I feel foolish for posting what I did without considering the total impications that such would have..
