Why is Alex making all these changes, they are really irritating to members, and it does nothing to improve the site.
That home page flashing every time I click from the index page to one of the boards is really bothering me, I don't

I have to agree with you.
Blocking the stuff at the top is not really possible. To avoid it flashing, you can disable Javascript, which is not too bad an idea - you've already had to download the text and images - so you might as well leave them on view, and get used to scrolling down past all the clutter. I am toying with the idea of modifying my local CSS to force them to be invisible, which may work, as it only needs to zap the class called "demo". (You didn't realise it was just a chunk of demo code Alex was testing out on you?)
It would appear that Alex no longer wishes to have anyone on the site with less that a broadband connection to the Internet.
He shows little interest in communicating with the members via the site, preferring you to contact him via Facebook, Twitter, AIM, telephone (from abroad!), or anything else. (Not including email, because he bins that.)
Finally, the new flashing stuff seems to be designed to get rid of people on the autism spectrum, which is the way he seems to want to go.
