I read a blog by David Kurtz and I am quoting what was said, along with the hyperlinks:

Quote:
You'd think by now Facebook would have sorted out how to prevent outside applications from accessing information they're not supposed to be able to access. Apparently not. To be clear, there's two categories of privacy issues involving Facebook: there's the stuff Facebook is open about sharing, which a lot of users find too intrusive but which at least you can decide whether to go along with (for what it's worth, I tend to go along), then there's the breaches of security which Facebook didn't intend or design to prevent. This latest episode seems to fall in the second category.

Nothing in this world is free. Every time we use a "free" service, we have to remember we are selling something. Most often, it is our personal information. I long ago stop using any Facebook games or other apps, but I am aware that only limits how much is mined, it doesn't stop it.

We are data mined on sites like this by the ad services. It isn't a matter how selling private information, but a matter of how much and to whom.

I'm not real worried. I just don't like anything here and friends on facebook won't know who I am on here except for my WP friends who are on my friends.

If my old high school mates happened to be looking on one of my WP friends facebook page and they saw some WP content because that user liked a thread here, they won't know I am LG unless they want to assume by the avatar.
