Reporting a scam - can someone look into it?

Hi, I've only used this site a couple of times, and the second time got 'chatting' to another user who asked if they could contact me privately as they were not going to use Wrong Planet again and stupidly I replied to their email privately. A day after that, my laptop crashed with a virus and I had to have it completely wiped and reloaded. I know that may be coincidental but this person was going to get back to me a few weeks later after their 'assessment' to let me know how it went, and of course they never did. Another coincidence? I won't mention their username here in case I am wrong, but if an administrator would like the username and private email address to investigate, please reply to me. Thanks.

The email from the member is probably coincidental unless they sent you an email attachment to open or sent you a link to a dangerous site which you then followed.

Ok, thanks, that's reassuring.

The PM was probably from a spam bot. The virus thing is a coincidence unless, as TallyMan said, you opened an attachment from them.
