I'm new to wrongplanet. I can share my experience as an aspie recovered addict if there is a need for it. Is it an appropriate place for discussion about alcohol/drug abuse? I've been there-done that. Since I started in my teens I can speak to teen issues, and I quit for good as a grown adult so I can speak to adult issues and I can definitely speak to my happiness and satisfaction with life since being sober. Of course it is from my perspective. I can suggest with certainty to anybody some of the things involved in quitting and staying quit. If I can help, what forum would I post in?

Hi, I think most of those posts go into the Adult Asperger discussion forum. It should be fine. Sounds like you've been through a lot and have some interesting insights to share. Looking forward to reading your topic. Take care.

I have a nicotine addiction. I quit for three years then went back again after gaining about 30 pounds. I'd like to hear any advice you have on quitting addiction.

Adult forum sounds best for this kind of discussion, so I suggest you discuss the remainder of this over there.

Drug abuse is a medical problem not a moral issue. And its a topic kids 13 and over
should hear (and do hear in schools in the US I did in 1983). Kids under 13 should
be under adult supervision while on most internet sites. So feel free to talk about it
in the Havan or Memebers only section to.

Whenever I see the words "recreational drug abuse," I always picture a group of friends shooting up heroin/smoking crack/doing lines while playing football in a park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Hi Everybody, Thanks for your comments and advice. I"ll float over to adults asperger discussion forum as well as eventually "havan or members only". I appreciate the good reception. I do also believe that drug abuse is a medical issue that is best dealt with in the sunlight. I"m confident that I don't have to worry about pontificating as I've seen on the site that people are fearless at cutting others down to size. Of course the straightforward nature seems to be a common aspie characteristic. I do also see many people saying that they are not intending to be disrespectful though they are forward and that says well for the aspie community. It is a strange feeling to have just discovered that there is a group of people who have a lot of special things in common with me. Life is alwyas interesting and I hope to pass that encouragement on to all..
