I have been an embarassment to my highly AS NT-wannabe dad, brother, sister and, to a lesser extent, my AS mother.
And I have managed, over the years, to largely dismay and alienate a whole barnload of cousins, aunts and uncles.
If Toby Young hadn't already written a book entitled "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" I would have dibs on that title.
However, I think what has really gotten the goat of some of these people is that, as I've gotten older and more well-spoken, I've pointed out various fallacies of theirs during discussions we've had, where they clearly expected me to concede simply because they were "superior" in some sense.
Good old AS perseveration inspires me to have done my homework on any topic I make assertions about (life is so much easier for folks who aren't spending 90% of their time blowing smoke to obscure BS they spouted earlier), and these days I have the verbal skills to express the ideas efficiently.
On the other hand, a lot of NTs seem to think that if they express something in a sufficiently comforting, suave or condescending way, THAT's what should permit them to prevail, regardless of the merits of their argument.
The Amazing Braying Boy being able to skewer his condescending "well-educated" relatives intellectually! Shock! Outrage!
