Hey, my names Dene.

The reason I'm here is because I'm not sure if I have aspergers.

I don't ever remember having a seizure, though I've always had some kind of obsession (main one is computers, which I've been obsessed with since I was 5).

Always seem to be collecting something, whether it's rubber balls or pokemon cards :S

I've always remembered been told I'm in my own little world by people like teachers, family, friends etc and so I've made an appointment to see a psychologist to be assessed for it, after someone with a close relative with the condition suggested I may have it.

Looking at what it is, a lot of what I know about it does seem to fit in with who I am, so I'm here to find out.

Well explanation of why I'm here over, onto me ....

My likes/interests

Rock (any), anime/manga, writing, imagination, randomness, honesty, cold beer, philosophy, crunchy nut cornflakes, Linux, Nintendo, girls (I prefer), art, GIMP (I mean the application ... not the other type ), and messing about with website design/development.

Sports I like to play include pool, basketball and table-tennis.

Not sure if chess counts as a sport though I do occasionally like to play that as well.

Things I don't like

Tiredness, complication, liars, rudeness, general prejudice, people choosing ignorace above enlightenment, long distance relationships, depression and clingyness.

Not everyone with AS has seizures. In fact, it is more common with autism than AS.

I'm confused because I thought aspergers was a type of autism?

Part of the autistic spectrum anyway according to wikipedia, unless I've interpreted that wrong?

the name and picture(in the picture topic thing) gave it away. i didn't know that pokemon cards were in the UK although they did originate in...japan...china *looks up* japan! pokemon cards took up almost all of my childhood.

I thought pokemon was pretty much worldwide, though I don't really know for sure. Eurpe definitely has them though.

No, you interpreted that correctly. Most people think of those kids the FundRaisers show, the ones who rock back and forth and can't communicate. AS is on the high end of functioning, but has plenty of telltale signs. Some ASpies do have a seizure, particularly after they've been 'overloaded' with too much stimulae. Too much social interaction in a large crowd, for instance. I've never had a seizure, when I 'meltdown', I need quiet, and lots of space.
