Viruses in Ads

I've gotten a virus in one of the ads on WP. It was an Ad about downloading some game. After I clicked it, every few words were underlined in green. If I hovered my mouse over the underlined word, the same ad would appear. This seemed like some form of Spyware. I advise everyone to avoid the ads on here. The game seemed completely legitimate, but turned out to be a fake. I understand the need for Ads, but why can't they at least be safe Ads?
