I wrote his post on another thread:

albertwesker, I'm with you on women [unintentionally] giving misleading advice/suggestions. That's exactly why we need a forum for men here.

There was one once, supposedly, and it was identical in content to the Adult forum.

That's just what I heard.

There are many issues that men can discuss about other than penis' size and masturbation:

-Shaving-related things.
-Body hair
-Men clothes
-Working out
-Masculinity issues (ie. guys who are seen as effeminate by other guys and how to deal with it , ie. guys who don't feel too masculine.)....
-Man-to-man bullying and belittling.
-Male beauty products
-Typical and untypical male interests
-Body issues : beer belly, small arms, over-huge muscles...etc
-Fatherhood instinct.
-Male-to-male harassments and sexual harassment issues

Those are off the top of my head, I am sure there are much more men-related stuff to discuss.

The excuse of "Men's forum will be just an adult forum and therefore has no reason to exist" is pretty offensive to me as a male,
we're more than just penis on legs.

I made a quick glance on the women's forum (I almost never post there) , and here some of the threads on the first page :

Quote:
Inadvertently Flirting

Shaved legs and sensory issues

Is not wearing make-up such a big deal?

nature of special interests: different for AS girls?

What Women like most in Fashion ?

Beer belly bigger than my breasts

Keeping relationships platonic?

Female Aspies with Color Blindness Issues?

How old were you when you were diagnosed?

Any aspie women work in childcare/daycare?

Any Other People Have Food Allergies Drug Sensitivities?

How many female aspies are here?

[ Poll ] A question of gender: Would you rather be male or female?

What is your dream job?

I am NOT romantic!

unusual Japanese beauty products

Female aspies who were loathed as teenagers?

Maternal Instincts in an Aspie Female

emotional aspie female?

[ Poll ] Do you find clothes shopping so boring?

Can't the "Flirting" be posted on L&D? and even "Keeping relationships platonic" thread?

Is " Female Aspies with Color Blindness Issues" really an exclusive female issue? can't be on the Autism forum? Same for "How old were you when you were diagnosed?"

What about the "[ Poll ] A question of gender: Would you rather be male or female?" and the "Dream job" threads? both can be on other forums.

Maternal instinct? this can be on parent forum.

There's absolutely no excuse why a men's forum shouldn't be there besides a women's forum.

and oh btw guys ....you won't get anything rightful if you don't dwell on it, so dwell on this thread , keep it alive ,keep it bumped. Any pause and they'll think we gave up.

It's not the fault of the current users if some 10 years ago there were some jerk users using the men's forum as a porn forum or if there's 1 or 2 male white knight users claiming that there's "no need for it". It's the majority's voice that matters.

I have a difficult time thinking that women on these boards would say you were being hateful unless you posted a broad sweeping generalization that was negative towards women. And THAT you would not find a safe place for in a men's forum, either, IF that is the sort of thing you are thinking of (if women were unfairly accusing you of being hateful, I would have hoped you reported it to a moderator). Women WILL read a men's forum on occassion, just as men sometimes read the women's, and straight people sometimes read the LBGT forum. Those not part of the focus group who enter should respect that they've entered someone else's space, of course, but it doesn't become a free for all for the focus group to say negative things about those not in the focus group. Which does leave me to wonder if that is what happened last time, and how flame wars got started ... I wasn't there, I don't know, but I see can it happening.

There was some war back then regarding the men's forum (in a thread in the women's section) and I was there back then , most women on the women's forum were advocating alex's decision in abolishing the men's forum and were against restoring it because it was "useless"....weird. One common complain I recall from female opinions that there was no need for men's forum because men were posting on women's forum instead, violating the privacy of the place. I wonder how this has anything to do with alex's decision though.

I'd say let's make a deal , what about a gender restriction? Yes, like the age restriction for the adult forum, it can be done easily. So no men allowed in women's forum and it should be vice-versa. What about that?

I hardly believe that, why's that? If an age restriction can be done then why it isn't feasible for gender? It's just the same principle, only different criteria.

For starters, the gender option is not required. We also are lacking several gender options such as trans-gendered.

This issue is trumpeted often by a total of 5 or 6 users. As you say, the majority's voice should be heard. When this "movement" gains traction with 20,000 members it should be addressed.

I suspect that some guys are afraid to speak up because they do not want to be though of as misogynist because some women insist that the only rezone we would want a men's forum is so we can hate on women

Sh*t, I had no idea. Thanks for your witness, Boo.

Alex, care to clarify? Or are you going to keep being a disappointment of an admin and either not reply or reply with vague nonsense?

You mean only the male members , right? it's a men's forum , so only men have the right to say whether they want it or not.

Did Alex took the approval of all female members for making a women's forum, I think not.

But I am up to this challenge and I would circulate a petition for this and see how many voices I'd gather :p.

I don't think men/women should be barred from each other's forums. That would be a stupid idea. Men dosometines post in the women's forum and there's nothing wrong with that if they actually have something to say. Women should be able to view and post in a men's forum too, if they see a thread annd have something to contribute. If they were to make it private and hidden from others, then I would think the LGBT forum should be as well (as there are even more reasons to keep those kinda things private - people in the closet etc),l but obviously that would be ridiculous and very difficult to do

I say give the Men's forum another chance, but don't make it hidden from women or people with no gender entered in their profile
