Leaving where you live?

I will be moving out by August, I can't take one more winter up here...

How can you complain about living in California? I wanna move there or Australia.
I am not saying it is perfect, but I don't think any places are. Of all the so called "western" countries I have come to the conclusion that Norway has the worst education system. And the worst weather and seasons. The economy is pretty good though, I mean the wages/what they pay you to work here, but then again it is expensive so that kind of messes things up again. My conclusion is still the same. At least in the things that I value the most..

I live in a small city, a borough, actually, attached to a larger city. 70,000 residents in my borough. WAY to big for me. Hubby wants to move next summer to KY (halfway between his parents in southern TN and my parents and sister here in PA). I just want to get out of this loud, obnoxious, cruddy neighborhood. We can easily double our money on selling this place, but housing costs are WAY too expensive to buy another home here in PA.

Ahhhhh, Kentucky! Hubby has been in contact with realtors and home builders there. Hmmmm... 10 acres, no neighbors...

I wouldn't in the least mind moving away from my side of the family. They don't offer me any moral or emotional support. I'm Catholic, I homeschool, I have 5 kids... I'm weird. They are none of these things. They merely tolerate me and my family, so let them amuse themselves with each other for the next couple of decades.

Oh well, all depends on hubby's job. Right now it's all just talk.

Don’t get me wrong; California is a wonderful place with much to offer. It is difficult to get bored here, as there are a variety of entertainments available. The mountains, beaches, and deserts are absolutely beautiful places and what they say is true: you can go surfing and skiing on the same day. I’m not the city type, so I don’t go for the urban entertainments, but everything someone of that particular bent could want is here.

BUT, housing costs are over twice the national average, the traffic is terrible and with almost no chance of improvement, people are being shot on the freeways on an almost daily basis, the air quality in many areas is downright poisonous, the weather is too hot, and the transitory seasons of spring and fall are almost non-existent. There are frequent earthquakes and huge brush fires and forest fires, illegal immigrants are taking over large sections of the urban centers, and the state is in debt…just to name a few things wrong.

Many long-time residents in California are leaving the state in droves, because of the problems I’ve stated above. A better, more affordable life can be had elsewhere, in other states that lack these problems.
