My avatar just got nuked and for no valid reason.

Yes, it was a fat dude fixing his computer in his gruts. But I seriously fail to see what is "explicit" about it.

Can someone care to enligten me why a mostly clothed man is worse than a womans bare boob?

Thanks.

Also I would love to know who complained.

We cant share who reported it because if we did members would start trying to get back at each other... and things would get out of hand fairly quickly.

As for the avatar problem the only thing in the rules about it is that it must be within the size specifications.

Having said that there was a discussion last year about whats acceptable and what isnt after MONKEY´s avatar showed a tribe girl with with her breasts uncovered. The rules could definitely benefit from some tweaking but until then its up to the mods to decide what to do and due to some complaints, some of them were made out in the public and asked how long will you be torturing us with your avatar(I understand this was a joke but it had some truth behind it or he wouldnt have said anything) we decided to ask you to please find a more suitable avatar

So people find fat people offensive to look at or something?

Yikes.

Also people should deal with the person directly instead of hiding behind mods.

well, he's pretty close to naked. if someone had an avatar of a person in a g-string (or bare breasts, as you recall) i imagine it would have the same complaints.

it has nothing to do with the man's size. when there was that bare breasted avatar i would have supported its removal (because i am an easily-shocked canadian). but i wasn't a mod back then.

you were not the first person to have their avatar reported. it does happen sometimes. usually it creates a lot less fuss.

i don't think it as particularly nice to mock someone by putting up their picture like that when it was clearly intended as a joke, but then... that part doesn't break any rules.

weren't you planning to change it anyways?

I wanted to find out what was going on with it causing problems and why it was against the rules.

I've managed to find out what was going on with it... sort of. As for it being a joke, that picture is a known internet meme, and i doubt it's the only picture of someone here who is on an avatar as a joke. For example, someone may have a picture of a star pulling a rather weird face or something. People on other sites are free to do whatever they want with my pictures that have ended up on the intrenet.

I have no desire to put it back, it doesn't really bother me that it's gone. I was more annoyed at how it was dealt with.

But there is no point going on and on.

It was nuked.

And I am pretty sure I know who nuked it, but as that person is a friend of mine he could have just asked me to get rid of it instead of making you do it. :(

ohhhh i'm sorry. i actually didn't realise that it was removed - i shoulda gotten that straight. it's hardest when it is a friend, that's for sure!! !! i bet you had that too before, when you were modding. it's tough when you want to remind or warn a friend of something. you end up feeling like an arse. :( but you're right - it's better coming directly from someone you know well.

spongy warned me once. though i think he was gleeful  jk

I have a lot of respect for moderators, don't get me wrong. I modded over at a large gaming site for years when I was younger.

I guess I get offended too easily. I'm sorry for not removing it right away, Hyperlexian, you were just doing what you were told.

I just prefer people being upfront and honest to me - laying the cards down and exaplaining.

i understand, and i'm sorry i was evasive as i am sure it didn't help. i try to keep all members' privacy intact as best as possible so they feel safe reporting. i'm still learning the best way to approach stuff though.

thanks for saying that.

I personally found Hale's avatar hard to look at because it looked exactly like a dude I used to know, and I don't ever EVER want to imagine that dude looking that way

I don't find the dude unattractive, personally. I tend to go for guys with a bit of wobble.

Offtopic sorry :(

I think someone might have been a bit sensitive because the picture depicts a man that a lot of people have made fun of... also many men are computer nerd types on here so they might feel kind of triggered by the picture and its history. Though they dont realise that you actually find the guy kind of attractive...
