Changing profile pictures

I've tried uploading a new profile picture both through a link and uploading it from my computer but it comes up with lots of errors like "Image should be less than 16kb" when the image I was trying to upload was actually 1kb..please help!

Is the image smaller than 160 by 130 pixels?
This is quite a pain and I have to resize all my avatars so that they're very small before saving the images, but it works.

If you've verified that, and that it's less than 16kb, I'm not sure what the problem could be as I don't have any other issues.

Yes, I think so.. The overall size is 100 pixels I think.
Yeah, I know, they have to be so tiny!

I upload to my photobucket account then use their re-size function to set it to "120 x 120" this works every time for me
