Sooo...I'm realizing I never posted back to follow up.
Interestingly, the social worker never called me back, but after my call with the VP, the SPED teacher caught me in the hallway. She said she's been checking my son's work every day, and he isn't missing any of it, and she's checking to make sure his assignment notebook is filled out accurately. She also said he was never sent home with 11 pages on a weekend, they try not to give homework on weekends and never give more than one page.
So apparently we imagined the entire thing.
It is true, DS may well have misunderstood directions given to him by the teacher, but I'm struggling with that deep of a level of misunderstanding: usually he misunderstands and does LESS work than he's supposed to. Fortunately for us, conferences are coming up, so I will ask to have things initialed and try to untangle this mess then.
