http://www.angio.net/pi/piquery
The Pi Searcher lets you search for any string of digits (up to 120 of them) in the first 200 million digits of Pi.

join my cool club. thusly named because i have not yet thought of a proper name for the club. but i have a cool idea. well i think it is cool, and this is the opinion that matters. maybe i will keep the name of the club as the cool club. thats pretty cool. but i will also take suggestions to possibly usurp.

a thread has a number, it is up in the url. make sure to click the title of the thread so you are viewing the thread number, not the post number. as of the present there are less than 200,000 threads, wheras posts are in the 4 millions. take the thread number and find its location in the first 200 million.

the first person to state the position within pi of the thread number, wins the point for that thread. I recommend you also make a meaningful contribution to whichever thread you are posting to, and claim your point at the end of your post.

who will keep track of the points? not i! you can keep track of your own points if you so choose, but there is as of yet no additional reward for earning points. the important part is just being part of the club.

how to join the cool club?

here state your intention as such, and then start earning points.

roster of the first members of the cool club :

COOL CLUB CODEX
жжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжжж

i thought codex sounded cooler than constitution, furthermore i think i will see if this 'game' will catch on better, now placed in the appropriate forum. its really not a game, its a way of life. A constitution will be in order once this practice gathers a following. for now it is only a cult.

to express more officially : the club/cult is not a competition. it may be for members who so desire, but no more than one point need be earned to become a member.

important point : the club is a SECRET of the most secret kind. it is not to be openly spoken of outside the confines of this hallowed thread. if a forumer directly asks you, why did you conclude your post with a number, you may PM them a link to this thread. with an admonition that this is a secret order, meant to be practiced, and understood by members alone. obviously it is not hard to become a member, so this does not seem like an unreasonably tall order . . .
I fear i may have to rescind this point if the club does not grow on its own accord in the absence of actively spreading the word about it

Firstly, Cool club is not a cool name, and this seems like an unnaturally hard thing to do.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll be a member, if I remember to do so. Haha.

Do you reckon there could be additional points for writing the numbers in different bases or the like? Just copy and pasting a number seems a bit simple and would probably get boring after a while.

firstly, cool club is a cool name, case closed. anyway i explicitly said it may be renamed, if a cool enough usurper is presented.

secondly, it is UBER easy. Click, copy, click, paste, search, copy point, paste point to post, post post, become cool.

BEAUTIFUL! 2nd member ever! technically you needn't copy the heading of the codex, 188832 @ 556400 or simply @ 556400 would have sufficed. But no matter, you are cool already, you can do no wrong. kind of like being saved by jesus the way the baptists see it, with grace and all, except cooler of course.

Why just π and not other numbers like e?

eg. the decimal digits of this thread's ID [189020 as previously mentioned by the OP] can be found in the digits of e, starting at the 214666th decimal digit (after the decimal place)

Thread 189020: @10^-168182[π] @10^-214666[e] @10^-317753[√2]

the choice of pi is admittedly arbitrary. perhaps the parameters may be laxed to also enter searches with the digits of e. its pretty neat 666 is a part of the location of this thread. you may become a member of the cool club honorarily if you so state your intention as such. let me know and i will update the roster.

limited time offer for those balloons . . . . at this point i plan on this thread being forgotten about, and i will finally let it go dormant now. perhaps in the future someone will stumble across it and think it is cool and resurrect it and it will flourish. for now i will let it ferment . . . .

NO.

You are not cool enough for that. You are certainly free to become cool if you so choose. Until such a time as you choose coolness, the answer is NO.

A tiny percentage of my coolness originates from my ability to choose
I am massively endowed with yesness
