No, not chat.irc.
Mainly for looking at live sport results and the currency prices every so often.
Most of them i have no problems with, and some just play up now and then.
But if you look at the java applet at igsports.com, it's just terrible - and this is one of the biggest uk financial trading establishments.

I think what is really needed is a 'multi quote' button like vBulletin has. We definitely aren't going to get one of those for the foreseeable though.

Going by the screen-filling quotes people quote all over again, just to add something like "Yes" - sometimes, I'd like to see a de-quote button...

How would multi-quote work - you "mark" several things in a thread ready for reply and when you do, they're all quoted automatically in your reply?

Ah, so...

Hmm. Not entirely sure I could cope with all that in one go - I'd likely lose the context of each one.
I prefer to pick and deal with one quoted doodad at a time.

It's worth noting that the post will can often be quoted in a 'preview' sense under the reply box - and, unlike with phpBB - the link goes back to the original post and you can follow it all from there. It's useful if you want to respond to seven or eight people at once, say. I sometimes do it in phpBB, but it means opening multiple tabs and cut/pasting the quotes into one single message.

Huh - it occurred that another system I use is powered by vBulletin and I've just nipped off and tried the multi-quote thing.
Hmm, not bad at all... That's actually quite a natural flow, marking things of interest as they're read and then having a one-off replying session.

Does it work with more than one page at a time? I can't see it doing that.

Actually yes, it did - and between different threads.
On replying, the prompt was:
"You have selected 2 posts that are not part of this thread. Quote these posts as well, or deselect these posts." with the underlined parts being clicky.
Selecting "Quote these posts as well" worked fine: there they were in the preview.

Ooh, good. Perhaps it would do good for us to have something like that here then. :)
