My mother is very good at not admiting there is a problem. My mother is the queen of denial. She still has a hard time admiting that I'm autistic, and she tells a few people as possible. Even when they know she's hiding something. She also says it's not a good idea to tell people becuase there is no right way to explain it to them. That's why I came out infront of my entire family at Christmas in spite because the opprotunaty presented itself.

Sorry for the stereotype in advance, but my mother can be an excellent martyr (even though she's not Jewish).

I found this posting of yours even
more poignant than usual.

I, too, was raised by my grandmother.
I've been out of contact with my mother
for many years. I applaud you for
reaching out to your mom, even though
your relationship is also detached.

My mother was very young when she had
me, so most of the good things I remember
about her are fun things, like playing video
games together.

Hmmmmm? May I ask why did your
Grandmother raise you. What's the
story on your mom? and You? and
living with your Grandmother?

I hope I don't seem too forward
in these questions? I am being
recipicol based!

Hmmm?

Ghosthunter,

Basically, my mom lived with my
grandmother and me. She met a guy, a
nd took off to live with him when I was
nine years old or so. They lived in a city
with some crime and a poor school district,
so I remained with my grandmother. Really,
I do not think my mother wanted the
responsibility.

I am glad you expressed this. My mother
really annoys my Grandmother. There
was this dissappearing act she did with
my dad Bruce. And my Grandmother
said she didn't know my sister and I
existed until my sister was 3, and I was
2. My mother took flight again and
had another 1/2 sister, Kristen. She
is now a stripper and very wild like
my mom was when she was younger.
After that marriage, She had a thing
with this truckdriver(no marriage to
my knowledge) and had Tonya,
another 1/2 sister, who, as I was
told wants nothing to do with Anita.
I get this stuff from my Grandmother.
Talk about distant, Tonya would
fit Aspergers to a tee. My mom
would also. So detached and
silent!

I am perplexed by her denial. Is it
that she feels it's her fault? If so
reassurance that it may not be might(???)
be a good tool? How is she in other
aspects of your life? What kind of
schooling did you get? What kind
of emotional support did you have
from her when you were younger?
Are you ASD, AS, or HFA?

Ghosthunter, they don't corrolate at all really. But if there is discord between us, she often acts the martyr to try and get her way. It doesn't usually work. It just makes me angry.
