more out of the loop then you used to be?

When I was in preschool everything was peachy. I didn't have a ton of friends but (I think) everyone liked me for the most part.
Kindergartem/First Grade (same year for me) had next to no friends because I was homeschooled and hadn't kept up with any of my friends from preschool.
Same with second grade (but I had a few home school friends.)
Second grade the second time (because I returned to public school a grade behind because of age of all things) was all right because I was the new kid and the fact that I was obsessed with endangered animals let me talk to other people about it.
Third grade was all right. I could space out and when my name was called analyze everything on the board, ask one question and get it right.
Fourth grade I was home schooled but missed by my public school friends.
Fifth grade I slowly fell out of the loop and lost a good two or three friends.
Sixth grade same but made some home school friends.
Seventh was fine lost three friends but kept all the other ones.
We'll see how eighth goes....
Anyways, does anyone feel increasingly lost in the NT world we live in? I do it makes less sense every day.

The problem seems to be that "the loop" is getting loopier...
I actively study the "NT culture" by reading through Facebook, Membase, and Failblog on a daily basis. While I still do not comprehend the value of most of this culture, I am familiar enough with it to appear "caught up" with society.
I suppose that the trend for most Aspies, at least from what I have read here, is that their interest become more intellectual much earlier than that of their peers. The above websites, for example, sometimes bore and upset me, while I can read online exerts of the DSM and scholarly articles and be highly intrigued and amused by them. Because of this trend, Aspies tend to have interest that stray away from the main-stream "pop over intellect" culture; as time progresses, this "norm" seems more and more obscure to those of us with fixated interests.

You seem to have enclosed a narrow area in your loop--pop culture. I have never been interested in such trivia, so I have been out of that loop for over 5 decades. There are plenty of other loops out there, some of them of interest to me, and some not.

The thing is that only 10% or so of the population is in the loop. People mostly just follow their own interests, but those people are fractionalized into different interest groups, examples being petrolheads, japanophiles, computer nerds, sports nuts, space geeks, musicians, etc, so that the largest single group is the one focusing on hyped up popular culture. MOST people only know the really big pop culture focuses.

Sorry everybody I am a teenager so my definition of the loop is completely different feel free to substitute your own definition

"In the loop" to me means "giving a damn about people who just want to drink and party." I'd rather just pursue what makes me happy.

Aspies pojaluiysta, I've been out of the loop. No need for me to try and get in it.

I spend my time social networking, and reading the news, so, I'm pretty up-to-date .
