, and counting...

damn, found this:
1 post or less: 15,477
10 posts or less: 21,000
50 posts or less: 25,039
and 27059 with less than 200...

So that leaves the forum with what, about 1,000 active users?

Not really; if those numbers are accurate, then one could only say that there are roughly 1,000 active -contributors- to the forums. I think it is a rather narrow focus to consider only those who post to be actually using the forum, when many members have even posted that they are long-time lurkers. Some people are comfortable with their own words, but find much benefit in those of others... and does prolific equate to quality?

No, it's not about being prollific or not. It's about having a safer forum and keeping lower server costs by upgrading it and making it leaner. Otherwise server costs will keep spiraling as we are starting to see.

There are plenty of active members who haven't topped 200 posts. They're just less spammy than you and I. And not everyone with over 200 posts is an active member. A few of those thousand have either been banned or have just moved on and stopped posting to WP. Just looking at post counts doesn't tell us much about the number of actively posting members.

Are they making the switch to coal fired steam power from the previous wood furnace servers?

Much more high tech than that! Alex has got a good deal on a 2nd-user nuclear powered server from somewhere called Fukushima.
