Clicking loads of times to go back

It's been happening since I changed my internet settings to ''high blocking level'', because I kept getting pop-ups (just when I went on this particular site) what kept giving my computer virus threats (even though my computer is protected with Avast! virus protection and is all up to date). Also I kept getting a random tab keep coming up when I'm in the middle of trying to type something, which was disrupting.

So when I changed the settings to high, one thing has been better which is no more annoying pop-ups or random new tabs, and also the site loads nearly all the time now, without keep getting the dreaded ''internet explorer cannot find the webpage'' page through several attemps to load the site (which was causing frustration).

But the catch is I have to press back sometimes twice, often 3 times, and sometimes 4 or 5 times, then it goes back too far and won't let me go forward, so I've got to go back to where I started, which can be annoying because when I just press back, the page is where I left it, so if I clicked on a thread title half way down the page, it went straight back to that, rather than starting at the beginning and having to scroll down looking for where I left off.

I'm not turning small problems into the end of the world, I just thought I'd mention it and see if anyone else has the same problem, because the back button should only need to be pressed once, not an unpredictable amount of times, and this only happens on this particular site, none of the others. I use Google Chrome but don't know what sort of internet I use.

Joe90, I have a similar problem and have done since I joined the site. It doesn't happen anywhere else. I have to click twice (not double click) to go back. I asked for suggestions in this forum too and I got a few, but in the end, I've just had to live with it. Maybe someone else can provide an answer.

It might be related to the type of browser being used in conjunction with the adverts on this site. What might be happening is that the first click back is only skipping past an advert (which may not even be visible) and the next click is taking you back to the previous page.

I've experienced that same thing on some sites in the distant past when I used to use Internet Explorer. IE should be avoided anyway at the moment as it has a zero-day exploit. In other words a security flaw which Microsoft haven't patched yet and is actively being exploited by malicious sites / pop ups and adverts to install malware and viruses on peoples' computers.
