Why is this subject so biased?- Frankly, the name of this A Level subject is misleading, as it could imply that it is inclusive of other religions...but, it clearly isn't!- The should've called it 'Roman Catholic Theism'.- I mean, when you do learn a little bit about another religion (may I add a 'miniscule' amount) i.e. Judaism and it's beliefs, they automatically try to merge it with Christianity, and ultimately conclude that Jesus is the centre of everything, and that nothing else mattered before or after him!

...any thoughts on this?

Is the subject "Religious Studies" or "Religious Studies-Catholicism"

Religious Studies- Catholicism (the way it's taught by Catholic schools.

I'm doing the same but with Hinduism.

I know it probably seems a little selfish but I think they try to revolve everything around Christianity/Catholicism to make it easier for you to study it.

It is annoying having being tied to particular religion when you're interested in religions in general though.

Hinduism sounds interesting; in primary school I remember learning about it...and, I suppose you're right about them trying to make it easier.

I'm a little confused. If the class is "Religious Studies-Catholicism" why would you expect it to be anything but centered around catholic and christian beliefs?

I'm thinking maybe the class you wanted was comparative religious studies.

My Sixth Form is supposed to be a secular one; it is a consortium made up of 4 schools- 3 secular, with the exception of one of it schools being Catholic.. I chose RE because I wanted to learn about religions, so they asked me whether I wanted to study it in the sort of 'Philosophical way' or about religions, and I obviously chose the latter. So, what I expected was a pluralistic curriculum based on many religions, yet it turns out that both RS's taught at my Sixth Form are the exact same; according to the words of my teacher, herself.- that's what annoys me.

I think that, if the class is named "Religious Studies - Catholicism", then it's probably a class on Catholicism. The name makes me think that "Religious Studies" is just the category of class, and that the particular subject of the class is the Catholic Church.

I could be misunderstanding, though.
