It is interesting how the rest of the people react and stick up for the family of the child with autism. Whats messed up is there are still actual people that actually act like the bad guy the actor is potreying. I recieved the same treatment when I was alot younger and my autism was alot worse.

I detest people who play psychological tricks like this on people. They are the scum of the Earth and don't deserve the time of day.

I did like the idea of this clip. It gets the idea that people do react to us like that.

I also loved the guy who stood up in the second set; his reaction was perfect, and what he was saying in the mini-interview after is the kind of attitude that more people need.

I like that the reenactment shows that average people can be surprisingly tolerant and supportive of the family as a whole. What I don't like is the free advertising for Autism Speaks in the voiceover introducing the video. Why not represent Wrong Planet or other ASD communities?

As to what I would have done: I don't have the patience that father is shown as having. I would have told the guy off sooner. After I'd told him my kid has autism and the guy kept it up, I would have told him to mind his own business or ask him what his problem is. If this didn't work, I would tell him to stop harassing us. (I've learned that using certain words can help in some situations--if someone is harassing me, it becomes an issue of legal consequence.) If he didn't stop then, I would tell him to stop discriminating against a disabled person. If he didn't stop then, I'd believe he had a bigger problem than my kid. Then maybe I'd just ignore him like the bully he is.

I have watched this before on YT. All I could think was "hey, just move your freaking fries! He cannot reach them if they are on the opposite side of the table." I've sat in a restaurant with a child with apparent mental retardation moaning excessively and pacing. When it got to the point it annoyed me, I simply put on my headphones and jammed out to [f/a/v], :wumpscut: and other loud elektro. I didn't act like an utter a**hole.

In response to the assumption presented by the video that people didn't get annoyed or upset about the child's behavior because they knew someone on the spectrum or were more aware of the symptoms, I hereby declare that is simply BS. The people looked annoyed, but evidently lacked the "courage" to say anything. Many people will not say something if it's politically incorrect to do so (and if their identity is known/others can see the individual's face). Go on to any forum, however, and others' true colors start to emerge (because a sense of anonymity gives them the "courage" to say what's on their minds).

In all fairness the "eggs" part was really annoying. I wish my dad was that tolerant to my fidgting and clumsieness instead of yelling at me to stop
