These are certainly some odd choices for advertisements.

Just noticing that a majority of the advertisements on the site seem to be advertising some "Easy solution" to money or weight.

I'm not sure how efficient these would be on NTs, but I don't think it would be very easy for an Aspie to believe something like this, which makes this an odd place to put those sorts of advertisements considering we're the majority.

I know the site needs money and all; but it makes me wonder if the advertisement runners actually know who they're advertising to.

Makes you wonder what an ad targeting Asperger's Syndrome people would look like. Couldn't be emotional or appeal to status or anything the normal advertising world uses. "Our product is now 53% more functional, and comes with a 1500 page manual describing its working." They couldn't even use exclamation points. How do you appeal to people who get excited when Dover issues new math books?

Or what products they would advertise. I can't even think of a ridiculous example. "Act now and we'll throw in a 5-DVD set of software from the 1980s for your collection!" (Not a good example - probably all the software published in the 1980s would fit on a DVD or two.)

Or what sort of profiles they'd assemble of their target audience. Would a database system even be able to process AS interests? What would it recommend?

The ads are probably not targeted - that's the most obvious answer. I really do wonder if anyone actually clicks on them, ever. I just use AdBlock Plus to block them. I've had to add a few custom rules to it as well, because there is just so much other clutter on the page.

Those ads aren't really targeted.

I once saw an ad on here for Living Social.

Definitely not targeted then. I guess I do miss out on a laugh now and then by blocking the ads.

Are you still able to stop these kind of ads though even though they are not targeted ads?

Not quite sure what you mean, but if you're asking about Adblock - sure, it doesn't care whether the ads are targeted or not, it blocks them all.

I'm talking about the publishing side of advertising. Adblock on the other hand though, it would be no problem for me as I can just simply use it whenever I feel like it.

If you are worried about ad targeting, Adblock and a simple tracking blocker should take care of that.

A woman named Stephanie appears to be stalking me using ads. She apparently lives 2.8 miles away. I don't want to chat or meet with her, in fact I am rather disturbed that she knows I live 2.8 miles away. how ever I doubt the reality of this Stephanie character and think that is I lived 100 miles away she would still live 2.8 miles from me.
