So, I made a mistake in copying down when a final of one of my electives was, and I missed it. I didn't know until I got the email after the fact and started crying uncontrollably. I went downstairs to tell my mom and she said she thought something had happened between Phil and I or one of my friends had been hurt. I realized that when I get a bad grade I feel like the world is ending and like I, as a whole person, am a failure. I considered not going to a party tomorrow night because I felt I don't deserve to after making such a bad mistake. Does a nyone else get like this over grades or anything else?

Absolutely! Spent my entire education, from Kindergarten until I dropped out of my third year in college utterly obsessed with getting good grades (didn't drop out due to grades, clearly :D). I can remember, in first grade, getting a poor mark on a math assignment because I'd forgot I couldn't use a pen and crying to my parents. After that, I mostly internalized it but like you said, the devastation of poor grades or missed tests/assignments, caused a lot of emotional turmoil, even when I was old enough for my parents to be relatively indifferent. I actually didn't miss a single day of class during my entire high school tenure...not one, ever, no matter how sick because I was so paranoid I'd miss something relevant to my grades.

The prof let me take it today! I thanked him a few times because Unknown that is an extremely rare thing unless the student has a medical or disaster excuse.

That happens to pretty much every student. I know when it happens to you, you feel like the only person who could ever make such a stupid mistake, but that's so far from the truth-it happens to everyone. Everyone makes silly mistakes. I once thought an exam was at 9:45, but it was actually 9:15. Then I was rushing frantically to the exam room and got lost. Fortunately, I got there in time enough to do the exam. But it was such an awful feeling, like something out of a terrible dream. There was another time I almost failed an exam through epically misinterpreting a question. It's okay really. Staff deal with lots of students who make mistakes like that every year-and definitely not just first year students either.

I have the issue a lot, thus i do not get my grades shown to me due to the chance of a breakdown.

The worst part about the subject is that everyone thinks i am having way too high expectations of myself, because that is not true. The reason for that is that if i get a bad grade i consider myself a miserable waste of human resources.
