Help! Need helpful advice with unique issues I'm having with
Please help, my internet is so slow, especially when I am on WP. A few weeks ago I downloaded an Adblocker thing, and somehow some random browser thing called SweetIM got through and made itself my default browser, and my internet has been slow ever since.
I removed SweetIM from my browser by going on internet options, and made my default browser back to Internet Explorer. I had updated my browser also I have Avast antivirus installed and updated, and that tells me that there's no viruses or threats on my computer, so that is all running fine. But even though I have removed this SweetIM from my computer, my internet is still running extremely slow.
Most of the other sites are quite quick, but WP is slow - but in a unique way. When I press the ''back'' button to go back, it goes straight back very quickly, but it is slowest when I type. If I type at my normal speed (which is fast), a lot of characters don't come up, and this never used to do this before. So if I type ''I hope it doesn't snow next week-end'', it'd turn out something like ''I hpe idoe't now thi wek-ed'', which is really frustrating! So I got to use microsoft word to write out posts, then copy and paste it on to the space where I'm supposed to type in on the forum. But that isn't as simple as it sounds either, because I put the cursor in the appropriate space then right click there to bring up a little menu where it says ''paste'', but the little menu takes so long to come up, and I have to keep minimizing the internet or clicking on the address bar to just highlight the words already in it, and for some reason that seems to make it go quicker, although sometimes I have to do all that several times to get it to get a move on.
I tried asking on Google, but it just gives me a link to something to download to get the internet to run faster or whatever, but now I don't trust links any more, and also I did download something what advice from a Google search gave me, and it then froze my computer each time I tried to use it (after downloading it), so I had to delete it off my computer. Instead of all these different links, I'd rather there be a way where I can get into some sort of computer or internet settings and sort out the unique issue there, rather than downloading all these links what I don't always trust.
By the way I have ran big scans on my computer and that said I have no viruses, and also I have used ccleaner to clean up all unwanted temporary internet files, but it doesn't make any difference to how slow my internet (WP in particular) is running. I have got Google Chrome and I am thinking of using that, but all my saved favourites aren't on Google Chrome and I don't want to lose all of them. Do you know of an easy and safe way to help sort this issue?

toolbars are a magnet for malware, trojans and other beasties that can screw your computer up.
Try downloading malwarebytes or the free trial version of kapersky, they are good at removing any such unpleasantness.
Have you looked in your Add/Remove programs to see if SweetIM is listed there? From how you say you removed this browser it does not sound like you removed it to me. Simply going into internet options and changing your default browser back to Internet Explorer does not remove the SweetIM from your computer.
If you go into Add/Remove programs and it is listed in there, click on it then click the Uninstall button and follow the onscreen prompts from that point on.
If removing SweetIM doesn't work - try doing a System Restore to a date before sweetIM became installed. Of course your ad blocker won't be on anymore (or anything else you installed, but your files and projects won't be touched) and you will have to reinstall that (but personally any software that installs other stuff with it is NOT a good software to me)
Have you considered Mozilla Firefox as a browser? You can get add ons for it like ad blockers and you know they are safe then.
Another thing to do is install EaseUS todo backup - a free software that backs up your computer so if you ever do get a virus or trouble like you are having you simply restore it to that image and your back to a working computer
The link to that software is here: http://www.todo-backup.com/products/hom ... ftware.htm
SweetIM doesn't appear to be malware.
A Google search on just SweetIM turns up several uninstallation instructions - including this from the manufacturers:

I have already gone to add/remove programs and removed SweetIM from the list. Also when I went on to internet settings I changed my browser to internet explorer then just clicked on to SweetIM and clicked ''remove'', so that is not on my browser list either, nor should it be on my computer after removing it from the add/remove programs list. I have also tried system restore, but it just said two dates that were today and tomorrow, and after I done it and restarted the computer, the internet is still running slow. I am trying everything I can and I have read through all the replies here carefully but nothing seems to work.
I would get someone out to look at it but each time I do that they always say that I have to pay for something online in order to fix the problem. I really do not want to pay online with my card because I always seem to get my computers into a mess and I'm so afraid I may accidentally let my account get hacked into. It has known to happen to other people, and it will most likely happen to me, being so I always seem to get myself into a mess on the internet, even though I don't go on any sites that are dangerous.
I did download some sort of disk cleaner, but each time I used it, it just froze up my computer, so I removed it. I don't even know if it was SweetIM that caused all these problems or not, but my internet has just seemed to have been running slow ever since this SweetIM somehow got through. The internet is OK itself, but when I want to type anywhere, like on Facebook or WP or hotmail or the weather website, it is so slow.
The rest of my computer is fine, like the Sims 2 is running fast and also Microsoft Office, RealPlayer, and other non-internet instalments I go on are all fast.

Are you sure its the program itself?
Changes on network configuration and whatnot from the providers usually slows down the connections for a while, they used to call us to let us know back in the day but its no longer standard procedure and I doubt that they have stopped changing them from time to time
My 2 cents...
If a program can change your default browser, then you have a serious security problem.
I recommend doing this:
1. Switch to Firefox
2. Get this free tool:
Malwarebytes AntiMalware
Let it run a full scan.
3. Get a good Security Suite.
For free users, I recommend Comodo Internet Security.
For paying users, I recommend Kaspersky Internet Security 2013, Norton Internet Security 2013 or BitDefender Total Security 2013.

Did you follow my advice?
