I admit to watching Spongebob in the past. The reason I stopped watching was:

A. I grew out of it, and
B. The newer episodes were just infantile, and have been ever since they've released The Spongebob Squarepants Movie.

I hate to say this, but these newer episodes of Spongebob are so awful. I don't see why my niece likes this show so much. It kind of makes me miss 90s Nickelodeon; at least those shows were decent.

I started to dislike Spongebob after the third season. The episodes just started to get worse and worse.

The movie was intended to be the series finale but as predictable as any greedy company, Nickelodeon wanted more money and wanted to milk the show for what it was worth. Stephen Hillenburg stepped down and then Paul Tibbit stepped up. If you still watch Spongebob, I'd recommend stopping as soon as season 4 begins like Megaman X where I'd stop after the fifth game.

Stephen Hillenburg + Aaron Springer (show writer/co-writer/director) = Funny!

Paul Tibbitt + Aaron Springer = NOT FUNNY!! !

It's probably because Hillenburg left the show in 2004.

Exactly. Without the original creator of the show to keep it in check, it's gone to hell in a waist paper basket which is where the scripts for all those terrible episodes should have gone in the first place.

I wonder why Hillenburg left.

^Probably because he knew that the show had gone on too long.

I liked this show at one point. I can't really pinpoint when it declined (maybe around the movie if I had to guess), but it just got old after a while.

I seemed to love the first 4 seasons of SpongeBob followed by the movie. I dislike the newer seasons because he and Patrick Star seem to aggravate Squidward Tentacles a lot more with their antics and getting him injured in certain episodes.

The WORST episode has to be "Karate Island." God, it was awful. The lack of any decent jokes, the fact that there truthfully is NO karate (Sandy defeats everyone with a hairdryer and donuts), plus real estate. For real, kids won't understand time shares, and not even adults care for time shares.

That was also one of Karate Kid Actor Noriyuki "Pat" Morita's last role as an actor/voice actor before he died. What a waste! His Robot Chicken Voice Role was much better in the sketch titled "Enter the Fat One."

I loved Spongebob. First 2 seasons were very funny for me. Loved the movie to. Watched a bit of season 3 but don`t watch it anymore. Shame really. Quit while ahead.

I loved the film, but as soon as they released the next season I knew they lost their touch. I just didn't imagine it would get this awful.
