Hello everyone! I'm new here and thought I'd join in order to help me be a better teacher. I've worked as a special education teacher in high school for eight years and have been a case manager for several students diagnosed with Autism or Asperger's. I think I do a decent job of working with and helping these students but I'd like to be better at my job, so who better to ask then all of you.
One main aspect of my job that's frustrating is working with other teachers, general education teachers, in order to ensure that my students receive all the accommodations that will help them succeed. Sometimes, they just don't get it.
So, if you have any thoughts or horror stories, I'd like to hear them. How can I become a better teacher, advocate and help students like all of you?
