How can I rate Movies

When it comes to rating movies I like as high as 10 like in the magazines. But when it comes to something like IMDB the highest rating is 10 and if I wanted to go that high I wouldn't really know how. For example lets choose one movie franchise that have movies with a mixture of almost all the stars, lets say Star Trek. My favourite Star Trek movie is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and I would give it 5 stars, though WOK isn't probably considered a 5 star movie among the critics it is to me. If I wanted to give it the rating on the 10 star level I guess I would give it 10 stars. But then you have a Star Trek movie that I would only give 4 stars lets say Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, how many stars would I give it 9 or 8. It's just what does each number rating mean in the 10 star category. A movie like Star Trek Insurrection deserves a 1 star rating but if I was going on the 10 star level then do I give it more, I'm not sure.

I always thought of the 1-10 scale as being the same as the letter grading scale. For example:

10--A+
9--A
8--B
7--C
6--D
5 or below--F

People often don't use it that way though, and they consider a 5/10 to be an "average" rating. lol

I prefer 1-10 over stars when it comes to rating.
