Yes. Skilled work like that can pay off, - but the rest is just giving your energy away for free.

I work from home. I am in the UK and I use my skills as an ex-nurse (and later university qualifications) to work as a distance learning tutor. I love my job, I tutor a variety of different courses and it's usually fun to do and I make a decent living wage. Tutoring online is something that is becoming more popular and not just in traditional academic subjects. You can enter "distance learning" in any job agency site and if you are lucky something will come up that suits you!
I hope I haven't talked myself out of work though.....

Even if you earn some dollars at the end of the day you will get bored because your just in your own space..

Some people would but I wouldn't. I prefer to stay at home and leave as seldom as possible.

It depends on who you are.

There are jobs you can get working from home. The ones where you are promised big rewards for filling in forms, or doing something ill-specified to do with posting Google links, or free products for you to try out are scams though.

To work from home you need to be able to create something valuable in your own home. An example would be writing computer code, eg. an app, and selling it. You could also work remotely for a client, picking up jobs from elancer.com, though you will be up against Indian outsourcers and the wage will be low.

Another example would be creating an object for sale, possibly selling it on Etsy. Again, it's tough to make a decent wage, and most people make just a few pounds.

You could also create media, blogs or videos. This is a really hard way to make money as a lot of people are doing it. I had a pretty high traffic blog which brought in about £50 a year, it's tough and only the top few percent will make good money from it. It takes either great skill, or great social skill.

What about desktopper/creating homepages? (using html, css and flash) Should give good money, because a lot of people don´t have the time to make them, or don´t know how to.
I am playing with the idea myself.

One kind of job that one could do from home that would be interesting, if not exactly on the level, would be to write papers for students.

If you were to do that, you would have to be careful to fit the paper you write for the student to the student. If a student turns in a paper that exhibits style or analysis that far exceeds what the student is capable of doing, the teacher will likely catch on really fast.

Yeah. That's why I never did more than just think about it.

It is (or was) a bit of an industry. If I remember correctly, in the 1970s such papers often went for something like $30 to $50 each.

Many a student has put themselves through school doing homework for others.

I have made fresh re-decoration on antiques look so old, that they almost needed to be restored , but this? I don´t think so.
