motivation to apply for jobs
Does anyone else find lack of motivation?
When i finished college i applied all over to the point where i couldn't apply anymore(well mostly) but after a few interviews and all rejections (including one that told me i was in the running then literally minutes after i left sent me a rejection email) i just don't see the point in trying. I don't have any experience just a degree and i'm not sure if i can even do the work due to: loud sounds, fast pace, and needing to double check my work/ feeling anxiety about it.
in the area i work you really only get a job if you know the boss or someone that works there. Which is how i got the seasonal job i have. Its helped me be more sociable but it isn't a live off job. I make from $100 - 200 every 3 months and the job won't always be around.
I've been thinking of getting back into vocrehab again, if anything maybe having the gov saying you should hire him and we'll give you tax right offs might help, but i don't like the ideal of employers knowing i have aspergers
makes me feel sub standard.
so my family thinks i apply constantly, but i really just mop in my room out of fear and knowing its pointless to bother applying.
does anyone else suffer from this?
Ya, I can relate because the rejections just demotivates you. I found that organisations that specialised in supporting Asperger by coaching career skills and social skills and also help you find suitable jobs for ASD is helpful. Maybe you should contact the social workers in your area to find out if these help are available.
I think job searching is discouraging to some point if there is no progress. That's why career counsellors or seek help from professionals are important. I don't think Aspies should struggle alone because we've our mind-blindness and chronic unemployment can lead to depression which requires medication.

From experience, I have the easiest time applying for jobs when I'm currently working. If I'm unemployed, just filling out the application or e-mailing a resume takes a lot of effort. The depression sets in fast and hits hard.
The longer I go without work, the less hope I have of finding ANY job, and the worse it gets.
I can totally relate to this. When I finished my A Levels I didn't know what to do so ended up moping around with no direction. Things that helped me:
1. Getting a voluntary job. I helped out in Oxfam. It got me out and got me into a rhythm, also it was something to put on my CV.
2. Turning up. Applying for a job is much easier if you actually turn up at places. It makes you look keen.
3. Appearing super keen. People will want to help you if you look like you want to help yourself. I'm talking clean, tidy, punctual, short nails, clean shoes, chin up, firm handshake.
My first proper job was as an auxiliary nurse making beds and helping old people use the toilet. Not glamorous, but it taught me a lot about life.
Best of luck with it!
