I find trying to get to sleep at night a very boring task. I get bored just lying there and pick a book up and start reading to pass the time. I am soooo tired all of the time, but I just can't sleep at night. I hate just lying there wide awake.

Yep, I get this too. I do have some methods to try and retain some semblance of routine waking hours. I go for a 20min walk every day, which I don't look forward to, but is usually quite refreshing. I get anxious about navigating other pedestrians, and just finding it arduous and boring at the same time. So, I listen to some upbeat music (without lyrics - v.important!) and walk fast. Sometimes I leave it till after dark for more solitude and anonymity.

I have sleeping pills that I don't like much, but will use if I know I need to get up early and I am unlikely to sleep before late without them. These are sort of treated as precious, as I won't allow myself to use them two nights in a row - so, just to give routine a helping hand.

I treat myself to two double espressos in the morning, and no caffeine after 5pm.

I am a computer addict, and have both an ipad and smartphone by my bed, but I try to do something mindless like watching a drama, rather than reading a scientific white paper. Or better still reading.

Then last, but not least... masturbation is most effective :)
