If anyone at all who has any connection to either creating this site or having done any work on it has an estimate as to when this site might be upgraded, or a new version created I'd appreciate to know. Or is this what we are stuck with and its best to look for a new autism forum or maybe make one.........just getting very fed up with having to restart my computer 5 if not more times just to view this site instead of having..........yahoo search come on and tell me the site cannot be found among other very annoying errors due to the out of date software or whatever of this site.

I get sites old its going to have some issues....but is there even a future of a wrong planet site, or are we just waiting till this one disinagrates and then that's the end....are there there even plans for an upgrade or new site?

Gosh!

I dont yet have that kind of trouble.

I can no longer get WP on Safari (that cloudfare thing comes up that says "please wait five second"- and you wait for eternity, and nothing happens).

But if I switch to Firefox I get that same cloudfare screen, and it really does only take about five seconds, and I'm back on WP like always.

I figured that the site must be under attack by malware,or hackers, or such, and that that cloudfare thing must be some kind of defense measure.

If you're actually having to keep resetting your computer (as in shutdown/restart) in order to view this site then I would guess that there is a software issue with it, simply because I don't remember anyone else posting to say they have this problem.
Irritating site software problems, definitely. Complaints about CloudFlare, yes. But having to restart the whole computer?! 8O

Would you please give an example of a Yahoo search you made which resulted in it saying that the site could not be found?
I have never seen this, and I quite frequently use an external service to search for content here because the internal search toolbar is somewhat basic and not able to include (say) date ranges and other logical constructs that help narrow down search results.

maybe update the browser to the latest, disable all addons and put them back one by one to check if any coud be causing problems, or change browsers.

it sounds like a problem with that specific install of the browser, rather than it being a problem with wrongplanet.

testing, testing, testing.

I was having trouble posting this morning myself.

I would type a key, and it would take five seconds for the character to appear on the screen. Gave up after a couple of sentences.

Seems to be okay now though.

Hmmmm...

^ I've been having a similar problem, occasionally there is a noticeable lag in the keyboard buffer, sometimes lasting two or three seconds, but only when typing into text boxes on WP. Can't say I've noticed the same problem on other sites. I'd have thought the problem was browser or computer related though. The keystrokes don't actually get sent on the internet until submit is clicked as far as I'm aware; though thinking about it, there may be some crappy WP JavaScript intercepting the keystrokes rather like Google does with its search feature to anticipate what you are typing. Can't think of any earthly reason why WP would want to increase its already overburdened site with processing individual keystrokes. :?

Alright will take a look at that link....

Also I didn't do a yahoo search, just typed in wrongplanet.net into my browser not into yahoo or any other search engine....then yahoo search comes up saying the site cannot be found yet still has links to it, when you click on any links to the site it just opens that same yahoo 'site does not exist' page. I am thinking its set to search with yahoo if what I type into the URL box of the browser isn't found, just don't see why the site ends up unable to be found. I could probably take a screen shot of that next time it happens if that would help. Then if i restart if I am lucky just once or twice it will just go to 'checking browser before accessing wrongplanet.net' and will load the site just fine in a couple seconds.

Just hope my computer isn't screwed up or has some kind of virus thing, but I have a good anti-virus/maintenance program on my computer so kind of doubt that.

Didn't even think of that, but certainly worth a try....I have been using the google Chrome browser, since I hate internet explorer and I was using Opera before that, but for some reason that one stopped working and re-installing it didn't help all that much.

I expect Yahoo is popping up because it's set as your default search engine and having apparently not found "wrongplanet.net" it gives up and complains.
If I try using that name here, Google (my default search engine) tries to find it but automatically returns and connects to http://www.wrongplanet.net instead - the preferred form and the actual address of the site.

Instead of relying on Yahoo to search for what you manually enter, why not just save it as a bookmark (or "favorite", depending on the browser)? That way you just click on it directly from your list of bookmarks instead of typing it every time.
You should be able to enter it manually and save it as a bookmark without having to actually connect to the site -
enter it as: http://www.wrongplanet.net

WP hasn't vanished for some months now - not since that time when it was truly and actually not accessible for a day or so - but even then, it was the content that couldn't be accessed: the site itself still existed and could be reached.
I don't know why Yahoo should have any problems with finding it, since it plainly exists, so it's probably better to not be in a position where it tries.
