What are some good shows that you can watch casually?

I like sitcoms because you can generally watch and enjoy them without having to pay attention to an overarching story, but what are some other non-sitcom shows like this?

I like to put my brain into granny low and watch Tennessee tuxedo, and tooter turtle as well.

I'm soooo busy lately.......sometimes I have the tele on as I'm packing/unpacking, organising and sorting-out paperwork.

I really like 48 Hours or Dateline mystery, Criminal Minds, even CSI. If you like sit-coms, have you seen Modern Family?

i don't really watch that much tv but, my mom watches a lot of criminal justice/forensic shows. when i'm feeling it i'll watch with her.

I like watching criminal justice/forensics-based stuff as well, even if there's an overarching story as the episodes for most of those shows usually contain self-contained stories that are short enough for someone like me to follow. I like Law & Order along with its various spinoffs, and I also enjoy Bones and hell even CSI if only just to laugh at the ridiculously unrealistic techniques they use. XD If I'm in the mood for something "real", I'll watch stuff like The First 48, Drugs Inc., Border Security, and various Vice documentaries on YouTube.

For some reason, I find crime and law enforcement to be quite fascinating. For a short period of time, I actually took a few courses on Forensics, and did pretty well on them, though I never finished all of them.

I call them "free shows." They're things you don't really need to watch each week to know what's going on.

2. Bones
3. House (it's pretty repetitive though)
4. Cartoons like The Regular Show (it's okay) or Phineas and Ferb or Futurama
5. Sitcoms, any sitcoms really. I like New Girl, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, The Office
6. A Bit of Fry and Laurie
7. Perception
8. Whose Line Is It Anyway? is ammaazzinnngly funny.

Star Trek The Next Generation. Most of the episodes are great and you can jump in anywhere.

Sitcom re-runs, like: "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Gilligan's Island", and "The Big Bang Theory". Also, I can casually watch re-runs of "Law and Order: Criminal Intent", with Vincent D'Nofrio, ONLY, because I've seen them so many times. Also, re-runs of "Stargate SG-1". My term for "casual TV" is: I like TV that I can "listen to"----but I don't really have to "watch it", while it's on.
