From Asperger's to Autism

Is this right? Changing your teen from Asperger's to plain Autism? My parents want to change my diagnosis in order to get me into a school that my current one won't pay for. I'm so pissed, the diagnosis change will even embarass me in front of myself! (literally)

Sounds wrong to me... though I'd say your parents only want what's best for you. I think you should talk to them about it because they also need to see your side of it as well...

In order to get tha Disability Support Pension (Aussie Government thing), my diagnosis was changed from Aspergers to Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our government doesn't recognise "Aspergers" but they do recognise "Autism".

I believe I really have both or neither or something... I've been diagnosed with ADD, AS and ASD at ages 5, 12, and 17.

It's fairly common.

If you want to go to that school, I don't know what would be all that wrong with it.

Asperger's is generally considered a form of autism (and Asperger called it autism), so it's mainly just a change in spelling.

I know. It just annoys me when people in Australia do it and it's kinda become habit to correct people over it.

In German, drunk is also referred to as "blue" (I already translated this. "Blue" isn't the German, hehe). So if you say "I'm blue" it can mean that you're drunk.

That was an awesome song! I don't care how stupid or meaningless the lyrics are. Their CD had much better songs. Meh. :P

I tell peole I have Autism, because it's easier to explain than Asperger's.

Do you want to go to this school, EvilWalks?

Cause if you do want to go there and you consider Autism as a more stigmatizing label, then just consider it a little loss for a lot of gain. But then again, the more ideal is to not consider "Autism" a negative label when you, yourself, think of it. What is in a name afterall other than what you give it?
