The dot on the icons annoy me. They distract me, and make me think there's something on my screen.

the dot indicates threads i've posted in, too. for me, every icon on 'view your posts' on the top right has the dot, and for 'view posts since last visit', the dot is again on threads i've posted in.
i've noted no exceptions, perhaps the dot 'activates' after a set time?

Well, I think it's rather handy for locating the threads that I tend to want to read. But I know what you mean. It looks as if there were an insect or something on the screen.

The majority of the threads that I posted in do have the dot. In some my last post was a long time ago and they still have the dot. Even the threads that I posted in for the first time just now already have the dot. However, some random threads don't have it. I have found at least three threads that I posted in but that don't have the dot. There is no thread that I never posted in and that has a dot.
It's no big deal. It's just a bit uncomfortable not to know what something means when it must mean something. I conclude that it's just a bug/glitch or something for now.
