I'm Roemaro phillips and I'm going in at the age of 19 as a starting Insurance Agent . I'm asking if it is wise for someone who is a bit of a introvert. Is it wise to go into this field for a few months and become a agent. I have a extensive vocabulary and I just got a message on monster from someone who is part of farmers insurance. Should I go for it?

Have you looked closely at the Want Ad? How much experience do they require? I'm wondering if you have to get a license to do this. How are they going to pay you. Will you get a salary plus commission--or just be paid by commission? If by commission, you are not guaranteed ANYTHING at all.

Farmer's Insurance is a well-known insurance company.

It takes lots of more than an "extensive vocabulary" to be a good insurance agent.

You should research different kinds of insurance--life insurance, car insurance, homeowners insurance, etc. See if you like it.

Could you post the Want Ad--so we could evaluate it for you?

I talked to him about the online responding letter and that he wants to disscuss about the job details at 10:00 am tomorrow.

If the name you wrote in the thread is your "real name," I would change it. You shouldn't expose yourself to potential harm by posting your real name on the internet (unless you know somebody really well).

I understand you want to get a job and earn money. Of course, you'll still be going to school while you're doing this, right?

I can see what they offer at the job location. If i don't get aceepted or feel it may not cut out for me. there is always the upcoming job fair at my college this wednesday. the meetup is going to be around 10:00. Hours away from my afternoon classes which is around 2:45.

As an introvert, you would have a hard time as an insurance agent. Insurance agents are first and foremost salesmen, and your starter market is your "natural market". That is, your friends and family. To be successful, you should have many friends, with whom you are trusted and influential, and you should have the ability to make new connections frequently and build rapport easily. Most people on the spectrum are the polar opposite of this. You can try it if you like, but I don't think it would usually be a good fit for an aspie or an introvert.

Also insurance companies hire just about anyone as insurance agents, just like any sales job actually. They hire anyone and only pay by commission. It means that only the best gets paid anything and the rest will leave.

Update! I didn't get the job because of my pathway in college. I was told that working for that company would be more of an career than how it is a job. I asked about customer service but I would have to be bilingual. Not feeling to bad about it as the job fair is tomorrow so maybe I'll find something a lot more closer to my interest. Electronics ! ( warehouse work is also good too !)
