I’ve been trying to reply to a certain PM for a few weeks, only to have the captcha get in my way every single time, always bringing me back to a text box without anything I had written in it, and without having sent my message.

Is there any way around this?

Keep back spacing (after completing the captcha) and your message with reply should show up. If you resubmit, it should go through. I haven't found a better way so far.

I’m not sure I’m getting it right. Do you mean keep using the browser’s function to go back to the previous page? I rarely use any of the major browsers and don’t know what the backspace key does on them. Anyway, my reply does show up again, but so does the captcha when I hit the “Submit” button, restarting the cycle again and again.

Try removing any quotes or other formatting tags.

Well, first-of-all, I "copy and paste", EVERYTHING!! When this has happened to me (9 out of the last 10 times, I've wanted to send a PM), and the CAPTCHA takes me back to a blank box, I just "paste" what I had written, hit "Submit" again, and it goes-through, almost always----ALMOST.

Thank you all.

I did copy and paste the message, made an awful lot of attempts throughout these weeks and every single one failed, getting interrupted by the captcha, till now, when I succeeded by removing every tag, the URL which was previously in one of those tags, every smiley and every non-ASCII character.

If I write a decently long PM, I always become a victim of the "Captcha Monster." What I do: I take away a few lines, and try to say as much with less (very difficult at times).

I usually succeed if the PM is less than 12 lines or so.
