So I finished the "employment readiness" program, which turned out to be intense CBT. It was okay and when I finished a month ago I started working with the "transitional employer" for which I get minimum wage while learning new skills, specifically janitorial with which to transition to community employment.
So I posted my resume on a job search site last night and this morning I got a response and the interview is tomorrow ,morning.
I'm fairly nervous as it would be permanent part-time hours with a reputable employer.
I will try not to worry as I have no idea what will happen. But I'd like to move out of the transitional employment program as soon as possible.

I doubt they will expect you to be very outgoing, as long as you seem like a nice person (which you are), detail oriented (which you probably are), and thorough, but not likely to get lost in the weeds (ie. over-doing a task at the cost of not getting the rest of your job done).

It went well (minus the inevitable faux pas.) I should hear back today or tomorrow. It is to clean the pool at the military community sports complex. Sounds like a good opportunity. If I don't hear by tomorrow morning I will call.

My job now is cleaning homes for mentally ill people who need assistance. Mostly I like it, except that some of the residents have issues with the proper disposal of human waste. There is a bathroom in one of the houses where the resident deposits his urine everywhere except the toilet. It is so disgusting I can barely breathe in there. And it's the same every time. Obviously cleaning entails dealing with waste, but honestly, if you can't aim, sit down.

Yep, Ann....men have an innate need not to want to "aim."

So, I got the job.

My boss called yesterday to offer me the position. Then asked if I could come in, so I worked 6 hours yesterday evening.
That's a faster transition then I am comfortable with, but I made it through. It's a good job, cleaning the sports complex. But I am totally disoriented.

LOL..as long as the place is clean, and as long as your "disorientation" is a pleasurable one, I wouldn't make too much of a fuss.

It is a much cleaner environment. Military people aim better.

Disorientation is never pleasurable for me, I think it's almost a mild psychosis. A confused detached feeling.

Now you have more bucks--now you could decorate your apartment with that unique Ann style!

It's 12 hours a week (on the weekend.) Plus call-ins. Apparently call-ins happen a lot as she had me come in yesterday and offered me another shift today which I declined (I'm pretty close to freaking out.)
I will have to somehow become comfortable with going in at the last minute, which is hard for me. I like to have routine and don't enjoy unexpected events.

I'm glad I have a job where I come in every day at the same time--it's been the same for almost 35 years.

But at least you have something you don't absolutely hate--and don't have to interact much with people, either.
